Man City hit by travel problems
According to Newsmen, Manchester City’s trip to RB Leipzig in the Champions League has been hampered by travel issues.
Pep Guardiola and his team were scheduled to arrive in Leipzig on Tuesday afternoon, but their flight from Manchester was delayed due to a high wind warning.
The warning is in effect for Leipzig until Tuesday at midnight. On Wednesday, City will face the Bundesliga team in a Group G match at Red Bull Arena.
The club hopes to be in Germany on Tuesday night, but they have been forced to relocate their media responsibilities, which were scheduled to take place at Leipzig’s stadium, to Manchester.
Bernardo Silva and John Stones were both present at City’s CFA training facility on Tuesday morning. Silva last played on September 19, and Stones hasn’t appeared for either club or country since the Community Shield loss on August 30.
City is the second Premier League side to experience travel issues this week. On Monday, Arsenal was stranded at Luton Airport ahead of their Champions League encounter against RC Lens.
Due to bad weather in the area around Luton, Mikel Arteta and his team were held at the airport for nearly five hours before ultimately making it to France.
Guardiola mentioned travel issues ahead of City’s Carabao Cup loss to Newcastle last week. Because no flights were available, City was obliged to take a bus back to Manchester following the game.
That setback to Newcastle was followed by a shocking Premier League loss to Wolves, marking only the sixth occasion in more than seven years that Guardiola has experienced consecutive defeats at the Etihad Stadium.
