Another Nigerian rapper, Oladipupo Oladimeji, popularly known as Oladips is dead.
Tributes are pouring in for popular Nigerian rapper Oladips, following his death at the age of 28.
On Wednesday, the news of his passing was shared on his Instagram account.
Last night, on November 14th, 2023, the music world lost a talent. Oladips, the renowned rapper, collapsed and was rushed to the hospital.
The management has officially confirmed the devastating news.
“We regret to notify the public that Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, also known as OLADIPS, passed away yesterday, Nov. 14, Tuesday evening, at precisely 10:14 p.m., according to the Instagram post. As we speak, we are still in shock!”
“He has been holding his struggles inside for more than two years; his body is currently with his family.
“During this difficult moment, the family asked that we respect their privacy. God grants us all the strength to endure this significant loss. And amen.
The announcement also stated that details about his funeral ceremonies will be released as soon as they are concluded.
The news of his death comes barely three months after the death of Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as Mohbad.
Oladips was a talented musician who rapped about political issues like the ENDSars protests against police brutality.
He also touched on the subject of mental health and depression in his songs.
“His story telling rap was top notch” one fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Big Brother Naija contestant Hermes Iyele expressed his shock over the young rapper’s death saying: “May God grant the family the grace to carry this grief.”
The rapper was due to release his new album titled SUPERHERO ÀDÚGBÒ (The Memoir) on Thursday. His last single was called Die Young.
Oladips rose to fame when he won a rap competition called the King is Here hosted by Nigerian music giant DBanj in 2015.
