Rice’s current likely destination is Arsenal, with Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool also showing interest.
This summer, Rice will have two years left on his deal, but West Ham has the option of extending it by an additional year. 18 months ago, he turned down an offer for a new, £200,000-per-week contract. West Ham won’t sell unless the price is right, and any earnings from any potential sales would be used to bolster the team’s roster in the summer.
West Ham has pledged they won’t obstruct Rice’s desire to play in the Champions League if a good offer is presented out of respect for him and in honor of his contributions throughout his six seasons with the first team. Rice is thought to be making around £70,000 per week, and if he transfers this summer, he would likely make at least three times that amount.
Because Rice is one of the best midfielders in the world, has a stellar injury record, and is only 24 years old, West Ham values him highly.
