Adrian Powers co-wrote and directed the romantic comedy Love Is in the Air, an Australian production released in 2023. starring Delta Goodrem as a seaplane pilot who falls in love with the man assigned to close down her company while flying in the tropical north of Australia.
Netflix started offering the movie for streaming on September 28, 2023.
PLOT
The pilot for the small Queensland-based organization that helps locals and tourists alike in the isolated location is Dana Randall. As their expenditures increase, her father Jeff chastises her for turning down well-paying visitors to take a resident’s dog to the veterinarian.
ITCM Financial, his father Duncan’s UK investment company, sends William Mitchell all the way from London to the Australian tropics to shut down Fullerton Airways. He had investigated the businesses they had been supporting and determined that the family-owned, tiny, struggling seaplane company would be best suited for liquidation due to its lack of revenue. He has one week to go to the company, review their financial records, and come back to the board meeting in order to close them down, proving to his father he’s ready to move up in the company.
Dana is pushed to find time for a date by Nikki, the aviation mechanic at Fullerton, but she says she’s too busy. Jeff alerts them the following morning about the impending inspection by a representative from ITCM Financial. When Dana is requested to pick up Will from the boat, their relationship is tense at first. Jeff wants to minimize their remote air support, but she quickly defends it.
Every two weeks, Dana travels to a town off the coast of far-north Queensland, where she delivers packages to those in need, saving them from being completely cut off. They persuade him to go with her on her rounds the following day once more. This time the engine fails, but fortunately Dana stays composed and solves the issue.
Dana’s ex-husband Heath notices that she has connection with Will when they are out drinking in Fullerton, and he and Nikki both urge her to pursue him. As a result, they enjoy time together while sharing and stargazing while driving on the tarmac.
After assisting Dana for three days, Will’s father becomes impatient with him. Nikki overhears Will’s attempt to persuade Duncan that they were mistaken to want to write off the small aerospace company. When they receive confirmation of an approaching hurricane, Dana is furiously upset by the news.
Will assists Dana in locating an injured Jeff, who had been assisting others in locating safety from the hurricane. Will and the three members of the Fullerton Airways crew take refuge in the storage room of the hangar to weather the storm. Because he loves about Dana, he promises to fight for their business at his headquarters.
When the storm passes the following morning, Will assists Dana in delivering emergency supplies to numerous isolated locations. After a long day of labor, by dusk she has reconciled with him. But just as they’re wrapping up for the evening at the hanger, Jeff says that ITCM Financial has issued them an email, shutting them down right away.
William has made his way back to London, where he has failed to influence the board. Dana shows up out of the blue with a plan to restructure and grow Fullerton Airways. Will offers himself to Dana to help them expand after resigning in response to Duncan’s unfavorable response.
ITCM Financial supports their initiative, and it is shown that Fullerton Airways has grown and taken on a more polished appearance. Will is contentedly employed there with Dana, since the two had fallen in love.
