The American action comedy mystery Murder Mystery 2 was written by James Vanderbilt and directed by Jeremy Garelick in 2023. It stars Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, and it is a prequel to the 2019 film Murder Mystery.
Plot Nick and Audrey Spitz are full-time private investigators four years after their Monte Carlo escapade. They accept Vikram “The Maharajah” Govindan’s invitation to attend his wedding on his private island in the hopes that their friendship with him will give their failing detective agency some professional credibility.
They meet Vik’s French fiancée Claudette Joubert, his flirtatious business partner Francisco Perez, his former fiancée Countess Sekou and her lady-in-waiting Imani, his reserved sister Saira, his ruthless bodyguard Lou, and their old friend Colonel Ulenga, who saved Vik from an assassination attempt in Mumbai but is now missing his left arm.
Audrey observes a veiled figure following Vik’s elephant at the wedding. The elephant drops a dead body, which turns out to be Lou, Vik’s bodyguard. Nick watches the abduction of Vik by an enigmatic figure because he thinks it’s a distraction. The couple determines that at least two perpetrators must have been involved because they are aware that they are once more entangled in a conspiracy: one for Vik’s kidnapping and the other for the diversion.
A team of experienced detectives, led by Connor Miller, a former hostage negotiator for MI6, joins the group the following morning. Nick is instructed by the kidnapper to deliver a $70 million ransom to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris in exchange for Vik.
