According to Football Italia, the Serie A authorities suspected suspicious betting activity surrounding Okoye’s yellow card, which at 8/1 odds allegedly resulted in over €120,000 in winning bets. Okoye and three of his friends were placed under investigation. Since he was charged with sporting fraud rather than merely irregular betting, he might be subject to a lengthy ban.
