Nollywood’s legendary actor Mr Ibu is dead.
John Okafor, the seasoned actor widely recognized as Mr. Ibu passed away following an extended struggle with illness and the amputation of his leg.
Mr. Ibu’s demise occurred at a hospital in Lagos State on Saturday, March 2, leaving his family, colleagues, and acquaintances in mourning.
Sources close to the family revealed that the actor was placed on life support after a second surgery aimed at addressing his health condition.
His blood pressure surged to over 200 following the procedure, and attempts were made to stabilize it before his tragic passing later that evening.
It’s crucial to note that Mr. Ibu has been grappling with recurrent blood clots in his leg, stemming from damaged blood vessels, and other health challenges for numerous years.
In October 2023, he publicly appealed for financial assistance to address his condition. Despite plans to seek further medical treatment abroad, his doctors deemed him unfit to travel, resulting in the cancellation of the arrangement. In November 2023, he underwent a leg amputation during therapy.
Surviving him are his wife and children; he was 62 years old at the time of his demise. Mr. Ibu was renowned for his exceptional portrayal of comedic roles in movies.
