For the first time in sixteen years, the Super Falcons make it to the Olympics.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons defeated South Africa 1-0 overall to earn a spot in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France. The West African squad has earned a spot at the Olympics for the first time in sixteen years.
Despite South Africa’s determined offensive push, the Falcons’ defense remained resolute, preventing any advancement in the scoreline. Rasheedat Ajibade’s first-half goal in the home game proved to be enough to secure Nigeria’s journey to Paris.
The Super Falcons find themselves in Group C, alongside Brazil, Japan, and Spain, for the upcoming tournament. Meanwhile, Zambia earned their place in the Olympics by defeating Morocco 3-1 on aggregate, securing the second Africa slot.
