With three victories out of four nominations, South African singer Tyla was one of the night’s highlights.
At the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards, South African musician Tyla, whose real name is Tyla Laura Seethal, was one of the most notable winners.
The EMAs’ 30th anniversary was celebrated on November 10, 2024, in Manchester, England. Following last year’s cancellation in Paris due to the Israel-Hamas conflict, the event triumphantly returned.
In a spectacular performance, the 22-year-old artist won three of the four awards she was eligible for: Best Afrobeats Act, defeating legendary artists like Burna Boy, Asake, Ayra Starr, and Tems; “Best African Act,” defeating artists like Ayra Starr, DBN Gogo, Diamond Platnumz, and TitoM & Yuppe; and “Best R&B Act,” defeating American celebrities Kehlani, SZA, Tinashe, Usher, and Victoria Monét.
